Michael Chance

Michael Chance Michael Chance

Michael Chance has established a worldwide reputation as one of the foremost exponents of the male alto voice in all areas of the classical repertoire, and is in equal demand as an opera, concert and recording artist. He performed at Raynham last September with his son Alexander in a superb programme of Purcell, paying tribute to Alfred Deller, an English singer who was one of the main figures in popularising the return of the countertenor voice.

Despite the abundance of younger star countertenors these days, none of them yet match Chance's intelligent delivery and supreme ability to get inside the English language The Guardian

Michael has been a loyal support and brings sparkling inspiration to our recitals advising on musicians, repertoire and style to suit the acoustics and the nature of our auditorium in the Marble Hall at Raynham. Apart from his persuasive abilities to bring to us stellar worldclass musicians for our evening concerts, he is also on a mission to light up the future by bringing forward young musicians already showing signs of star quality.
